When planning your travelling adventure

The most important thing to keep in mind is where you are going. What will the conditions be like? Will it be hot or cold? Will there be mosquitoes at that time of year? How far will you be from conveniences?

Pick a sleeping mat and sleeping bag suitable for the temperature range during your travels.

It is very advisable to pack a first aid kit, no matter where you are going. They vary in size so you will find one to fit easily into your bag and it can be invaluable in an emergency. Aside from this, take insect repellents and depending on area, a mosquito net to avoid irritating bites which in some places can spread dangerous diseases. You may also need to consider your water source, do you need to take your own water purification method? (It can be good to take this just in case.)

Also, think about your food source, it can be dangerous to run low on energy when you're travelling. Have a look at our range of dehydrated food, Wayfarer camping food packets and emergency energy sources.

Once you've gathered everything together, you will need a big enough bag or rucksack to carry it all in. Make sure your rucksack is adjusted to fit you correctly and is comfortable. Pack a rain cover and/or waterproof liner to make sure everything stays dry inside too!

If you want some inspiration for useful gadgets and accessories, such as torches, waterproof matches, microfiber towels and lots more, have a look in the Camp & Hike section, it'll be sure to give you lots of ideas! There are lots of items there that can make great gifts for adventurous people...
