The Fjallraven Kanken Backpack is a bit of a style icon. The rainbow of colours and multitude of sizes mean there are almost limitless options! However, this is the original and the best! Offering 16 litres of useable space, the Kanken is seen in universities, schools and offices across the world. It's strange to think that the Kanken started life back in 1978 to help reduce back problems in Swedish school children! Over 40 years later, the Kanken is Fjallraven's most recognisible product.
Unlike many other Fjallraven bags, the Kanken utilises a hard-wearing and lightweight Vinylon F fabric which comes from Japan. This is able to withstand dirt and moisture and offers excellent levels of durability.
The bag itself is relatively straightforward. It has one main spacious compartment, with a large zippered access. This makes pulling books, pencil cases and lunch boxes out easy. There are two flat side pockets and a zipped pocket on the front of the bag, perfect for those bits and bobs that you want to keep close at hand.
The included PE foam seat cushion is stored in the interior back pocket where it prevents the contents of the backpack from poking against your back - and is always within reach for when you need to take a break and sit down, wherever you may be.
The carrying system is simple but practical and consists of handles at the top and slender, adjustable shoulder straps. The logo on the front is reflective. It also has an address label inside the main compartment.
